ISTE C 4.7.a Inspire and encourage educators and students to use technology for civic engagement and to address challenges to improve their communities. I chose this artifact because it demonstrates my ability to create and implement multicultural instructional technology tools that enhance student learning. My multicultural art game gives students the opportunity to learn about artists from other parts of the world. In teams, students compete to see who knows the most about world famous artists and their contribution to their culture. This digital tool encourages students to collaborate and communicate their understanding of different countries and cultures in order to win the game. Because this program is digital, my students could play another classroom in the school, the country, or the world. If implemented correctly, this game could turn student competition into student collaboration.
ISTE C 4.7.b Partner with educators, leaders, students and families to foster a culture of respectful online interactions and a healthy balance in their use of technology. I chose this artifact because it demonstrates my ability to encourage diversity, cultural understanding, and global awareness using instructional technology that allows collaboration with my students and their parents, my peers, and the community. My eLearning program gives anyone with a computer and PowerPoint the ability to interact with the lesson. Parents can play with their children and teachers with their students. This eLearning game, about the Rainbow and the Color Wheel, encourages collaboration through interaction, simulations, questions, and videos.
